When I was young my grandmother used to walk and pick me up and we'de walk back to her house until my Mom was finished work... once I was old enough to be left on my own, I became the ultimate latch key kid.

I lived three blocks from grammar school and about a mile from high school and we always walked unless it was raining and then we got a ride..in those days (the olden days) we walked, we rode our bikes..we weren't obese as the children of today are..we didn't have video games and computers to sit in front of all day..we didn't have millions of junk foods surrounding us which further makes today's kid fat! :( Those were, in fact, "the good old days" for the children.

I walked from first through 7th grade. My parents drove me until 9th grade when I rode with friends.
-
I took myself to school and back home again, then got the food ready and did some cleaning.
-
I lived less than a block from the school, and as my parents worked, and I was the youngest of four, I walked. Alone.
-
My parents picked me up from school upto a certan age ...then I walked home with my friends :-) !
-
I walked, but sometimes got lucky enough to catch a ride on the way to school if my mom had to go to work early.
-
Public transport - My home was about 10 miles away from the school, and so I caught the bus.
-
I took a bus from 1st thru 6th grade. A neighbor drove me home in 7th and 8th. I walked home from 9th thru 12th grade.

We usually rode the bus to and from school. Occasionally, my dad would drive us to and pick us up from school if it was his day off. At one point, we rode the city bus to and from school because we lived about 5 miles from the school and we weren't within the bus zone.

I think my parents picked me up from school ONCE in my life - when we had to leave for the airport to go somewhere. :o) I walked for about 5 years, and took the school bus for the rest.

Latchkey kid :)

We walked or rode our bikes to and from school (about a mile and up a couple of pretty steep hills). We also walked home for lunch and then, sometimes walked, sometimes rode back to school. The walking continued until I walked home during blizzard conditions for lunch one time. Think the temp was about -10 (think of what the wind-chill was!). Mom let me stay home that afternoon, and I seem to remember riding when it rained, and in the winter (at least) after that.
-
My mum watched me onto the bus untill I was about 8, then I took my self. My mum was usually home when I got in though :)
-
I was a walker or a bus rider:-)
-

-
I walked up until Grade 11, and then I was school-bussed.
-
We walked . No matter the weather.
-
Someone was supposed to come and get me but lots of times nobody showed up so I ended up walking hom alone (sometimes with tears streaming down my face).

In elementary school they always dropped me off and picked me up, though I lived pretty close to the school. In middle school we pretty much took the bus, but half the year there wasn't a bus to go to where I lived, so I had to walk about a 1 and a quarter mile home. The high school is like 10 miles away, so I got driven to school and took the city bus home the first 3 years, then this year I drive my own car there and home.
-
Elementary School- Took the bus to school and back home Middle and High School- Get driven in the morning and walk home.
-
Walked. My parents never owned a car or had a driver's license. Turning 16 was a great experience for me. I chipped in what I had and my dad did the rest for a used car. Only problem was I had to go do the grocery shopping.
-
Walked and when we moved further away I took a bus. In H.S. I only got picked up after night classes.
