Are art appraisers educated in art or business?

The ones working at auction houses are usually educated in both fields. The art education is of primary importance, though. Likewise, and even more so, in museums.

Generally speaking most art appraisers are high school drops outs...so they don't have much of an education. They basically start out working in pawn shops and work they're way up.
