  • Yes. There are two types of diabetes, type one and type two, also known as juvinile dibetes and adult onset diabetes. Adult onset is the type that can be caused by eating to much sugar and starch, it is when the pancreas shuts down permenantly from sugar overload and ceases to work for the rest of you're life, juvinile diabetes is when you are born with a non-functioning pancreas. If you got diabetes from to much sugar then it would be type two.
  • Please access information online about Diabetes because it is a a complex condition that requires some indepth study to understand and is far more dangerous than is commonly known. http://www.emedicinehealth.com/diabetes/article_em.htm
  • My ex-husband would drink a half a liter of pop or more every day and not eat right. His blood sugar was elevated to diabetic level. He stopped doing this and his blood sugar dropped to normal range. Too much sugar is just not good for us all around, just like too much salt.
  • actually consuming sugar has nothing to do with getting diabetes
  • A diabetes myth - diabetes is not caused by eating too much sugar. This myth probably began when people with diabetes were absolutely forbidden from consuming sugar. Researchers no longer believe this. Your child can still have all of her favorite sweets as long as they are scheduled in her eating plan. -american diabetes association
  • Eating too much sugar causes elevated blood sugar levels and increased insulin production. It is one of the main causes of type 2 diabetes. Eating too much sugar also leads to obesity, another major predictor of diabetes. read http://www.diabetespreventiondiet.com

  • YES. Eating too much "sugar" CAN DEFINITLY cause Diabetes Mellitus, in particular Type II. One with Diabetes basically lacks insulin which is required for the uptake of glucose into our tissues, thus lowering our blood sugar. But this does not mean that an one with plenty of insulin production cannot be diabetic. A common cause of diabetes which is usually unmentioned is "Insulin Resistance" in which the receptors of the GLUT4 transporter(responsible for the uptake of the sugar into your cells) become resistant to insulin... Thus requiring more and more insulin to illicit same response. One of the major causes of Insulin Resistance is Insulin itself, cells continuously exposed to insulin require more GLUT4 transporters for the same amount of insulin and eventually cant meet the need. And What is the trigger to release insulin? Glucose! (essentially-sugar in the blood) Of course there are many other causes but this is referring to the initial question. Hope this helps…
  • No. A person without diabetes can eat huge amounts of sugar and not get diabetes. That's a myth. What can happen, however, is that the body becomes insulin resistant. Obesity is the main cause of diabetes.
  • No dibetes is nothing to do with eating too much sugar. Diabetes is caused by a combination of genetic and lifestyle factors. However, being overweight does increase your risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
