Why do men spit? unless they are chewing tobacco, couldnt they just blow their noses like the rest of the grown ups do?

Blowing your nose and spitting are two different things. A guy taught me how to spit many years ago (sort of like the scene from Titanic) and I pride myself on being a good 'spitter'! But it must be done outdoors. Inside and the use of spittoons is just disgusting.

Because they are men. I am sure we do some things that they find irritating.
