I think it was when women began riding horses more than sitting in horse drawn wagons. Wagons couldn't go everywhere and it was faster and easier to ride a horse with pants.

when the men went to world war two all the women had to work, and some of them worked in places with machinery so skirts and dresses wernt suitable ...i think? x

I AM GUESSING ONE LEG AT A TIME...HAHA I believe woman wore there husbands to do work in the fields then eventually made there own...then here we are in 2007....we all own pants.
