In what ways? I have a Dell computer, and have an HP printer hooked to it. No problems there. Is there something more specific you need to know?

Yes. They're both PC architecture, so the parts should work fairly well together. (Flagged as being in wrong category. I'm sure it'll be moved shortly, if it hasn't already.)

Hardware wise, if you wanted to swap some parts it would be possible depending on the model. If both systems were identically configured, you could swap the CPU, RAM, Hard Drives, CD/DVD, Video Cards and possibly some other parts. Though this would highly depend on the model, some dell units use proprietary motherboards, cases, power supplies, mounting mechanisms, etc. while other dell units adhere to industry standard ATX specifications. The same is also true with HP. If both computers are ATX adherent then a swap is possible. Software wise, the Windows Operating System and recovery disc is locked down to HP or DELL and will not install on the other machine. This means you must go to newegg.com or some other computer parts site and buy a new copy of Windows. Though, there is the Linux alternative that will work on 95% of all computers produced since circa 2000-2001. As far as running software written for Windows, yes DELL and HP are 100% compatible.
