  • Forgiveness does not necessarily mean shutting up. Forgiveness means letting go of the anger and the pain that the crime caused. Forgiveness does not mean that the perpetrator of a crime should not be punished for his crime. Forgiveness means that whether justice is done to him or not, you are not going to let his crime negatively effect your life. When someone commits a crime they should pay the consequences of committing the crime. Unfortunately no legal system is perfect. Therefore, not all criminals get justice in this life. However, if we let this fact negatively affect our lives then evil wins. Learning to let go of the negative emotions that are the nature product of evil done to you is an important part of healing your soul. It really doesn't do the evil person any good, but it does do you a world of good.
  • It depends on the crime, the intent of the person that commited the crime, and the surrounding facts of the crime. Major crimes, like homocide, armed robbery, rape, and arson, are treated differently, since they are more serious crimes, than shoplifting. Example: a man rapes your daughter. he is proven guilty, by a jury. you definetely want him to go to prison, forever. right? Example: a man is confined to a wheelchair. he has no job, his wife left him with three children to feed and care for. they are out of food and no money. at 2 a.m., he breaks into a drive-in market and only takes enough food for his hungry children. is this to forgive? Each case and each incident of crime has its own merits. if your son took $10.00 from your pocketbook, would you prosecute him? I hope this helped to explain why all crimes are not treated equally.....and why.
