What purpose does the tiny patch of hair on the bottom-back of our fingers serve?

From what i known, we have hair every where on our bodies, most purpose of body hair is to control sweat through the pores of skin and also to reserve heat. If you're wondering why's that tiny patch of hair happen to be longer and more visible, then my answer would be that's the area with the largest pores of your hand, therefore the hair will be longer, darker, thicker, etc. :)
