  • I think he really wasnt aware of the size of the problem. and the underlings beneath him didnt want to be responsible. plus the structure wasnt in place to take care of such a huge emergency. as usual it takes devastation to prepare for devastation.
  • OH, FOR GOD'S SAKE!!! WHAT RUBBISH.
  • I don't think he actively avoided aid to the people of Louisiana because of their race, I think the Bush administration was guilty of neglect not so much because they don't care about black people as because they: 1- Don't care about poor people. and 2- Don't care about Americans (at least not as much as they care about their international shenanigans).
  • NO, the reason the victims of katrina were w/o assistance was: no federal govt assistance can be obtained w/o the governor asking the president to declare a federal disaster.govenor blanco was offered assistance by the president as soon as reports started coming in but the governor stalled and delayed saying she wanted to further assess the situation before asking for federal help.then when she saw she was up to her ass in alligators did she ask. the whole rescue and recovery, etc then was one big cluster f@#k.hailey barbour(governor of Mississippi) however, contacted the white house and asked for aid as soon as katrina made landfall.
  • No. As much as I disapprove of Bush...I don't think he is that low on the scale of humanity.
  • NO. I'm sure no matter who was president at that time, it would have been a similar situation. The people who stayed behind did so because they didn't think it would get as bad as it did. There were options for them to get out - such as an empty Amtrack train that could have taken one thousand people north free of charge, before the hurricane hit, that the then mayor said - NO THANKS. (and it pulled away EMPTY) The failure was local, as much as national. If you hold Bush accountable, then you've got to hold the Governor and Mayor accountable too, since they would have had more information since they are eyeballs deep in it.
