  • Most are advertised in the newspaper (depending on your state laws) then they are auctioned off on the front steps of the court house (at least in TN they are). You can bid and must have cash in hand to pay for the home. If you have cash don't worry about your credit. Just make sure you don't need any extra to flip the house or you might run into alot of problems.
  • I called a real estate agent and said I wanted to look at forclosed homes. She took us to about 10, and then we found about 10 more on our own, (they used to hang signs in the windows (official gov't. signs). They may still do this, but we bid on and bought one we found ourselves. "Ryan" is right about extra money! Before we were done with the process, we had to "cough up" another $1600 in assorted, nit-picking charges that almost had me backing out!
