  • The average density of the Sun is much smaller than that of the Earth: about 1.4 g/cm3 compared with about 5.5 g/cm3 for the Earth.
  • Density is based not only upon amount of matter, but the size space that matter is confined to. If the Sun's matter were placed in an Earth sized space-Then the Sun would be MUCH denser than the earth's density. See Kal's answer for the specific math--Good question.
