  • I think in Germany they were considering raising the minimum age on those, so they'd be at must-be-18-to-purchase with the hard liqueurs. As for taxes, it'd be better to raise taxes on them across the board. Raising the taxes on "fruity girly drinks" would probably just push people to drink beer or lower-priced harder alcohols. (Hey, I'd drink long islands if they were cheaper than the low-alcohol ice tea bottled drink i get now.)
  • The problem is defining alcopops in a way that the drinks company could not bypass. There are plenty of speciality beers, for example, that have fruit in them but are definitely not alcopops they are very adult, beery tasting. On the other hand, I just bought what appeared to be such a real bear, with apple, and (to my disappointment) it tasted just like apple juice.
