The average life of a baseball is 6-7 pitches before it is hit foul hits the ground or is requested a new one by either the pitcher or catcher. Each game requiers up to 7 dozen baseballs to complete.

I don't think there is a maximum. It could play the whole game if possible... but the catcher, pitcher can request a new ball, or the umpire can give a new ball whenever it has a scuff or has been hit by the bat. Most baseballs don't last very long, with all the foul balls etc.
