its hard it takes a while. what you need to do it buy live plants and put salt in water for a month before you can start bringing in the fish.

My best advice is to pick up a few books about salt water mantince, SW fish, invertabrets, corals. Read all you can find, and while doing so build your tank in your head and on paper. Including what kind of filter setup you want to use(theres a bunch), and if your going to use live sand(recomended) and find a good supply of live rock too. But as far as step by step??? 1. Set up tank dry. 2. Add salt water half way. 3. Add all live sand or crushed coral 4. Fill 1/4 of the way, and add the live rock. 5. Let run for a few mounths, like 3 or four. Adding more live sand and rock to your likeing. if its live sand you want about 2-3 inches worth of it. 6. Find out what fish you want and if there compatible. 7. set up a quaringting tank, just in case. 8. Buy a fish or two and drip aclamate them. 9. salt water tank, in a nut shell.
