well I tend to like to eat them raw, just cut them in half and put some korean hot sauce on them but when I do cook them I take a big pot with about an inch of water or beer in it and put in some wadded up butcher's paper then place the crabs in there and add some Old Bay seasoning, they will steam up really well and taste delicious. If you have a little rack you can place in the bottom of the pot to keep the crabs out of the liquid you can use that instead of newspaper but either works.

Let the little buggers calm down a bit from when you first catch them, usually overnight. Then gently toss them into boiling water. If you toss them into the pot right off the boat, they have a tendency to thrash about a bit more, and rip legs and claws off. After about 10 minutes in the water, remove them, let them cool a bit. You can refrigerate them now for about 5 days before they start to lose flavor. This is with Dungeness Crab, the ones I have experience with. You might have different cooking times with other species, but the general principal is the same: Live crab + boiling water = good eating. :)
