On a morning when I've had diarrhea for some reason--my stomach seems to accept liquids only for long periods thereafter. While this kind of dieting hasn't been altogether successful, at least I'm not dead, which I would have been had I continued to gain weight at my former rate. Usually the diarrhea has been because of stomach flu or whatever, but sometimes pigging out on the cherry crop, or something like it, will do the trick. Let us know if it works for you.

Don't just start fasting, you should prepare for a few days before, by eliminating certain things from your diet, for example, 1st eliminate processed foods, snacks and flavored beverages. Then eliminate heavy protein foods, then carbs, and finally fruit and vegetables. When you come off the fast, restore things back to your diet slowly in the reverse order. Lots of history and tips about fasting here: http://www.healthy.net/scr/article.asp?ID=1996 Fasting doesn't necessarily mean no food, for e.g. you could fast but drink juice and soup broth -- that way your intestines get a rest, but your body still gets nutrients from food sources.
