Usually apple macintosh's. running pro tools and logic pro << usually some use pcs they'll run cubase / sonar both may run use reason They'll have a few sets of speakers to hear what the music will sound like on different sound systems --active monitors--, which give no warmth of colouration to the sound (a definate). even the smallest will have these, they are a must. synthesizers most likely, drum machines maybe all the usual hardware effects like delay, reverb, compressors etc. though having said this, this can all be done on computers nowadays (the effects and synthesisers) with pretty much the same degree of quality. they are cheaper to get on software than hardware and have a far higher degree of mallability condenser microphones and all sorts there'll be a booth depending on whether the artist uses vocalists for their tracks and if they're rich almost always a midi keyboard
