G'day England, Thank you for your question. The Queen is the head of the Commonwealth but has little real power as they are independent nations. She has more powers over Territories but this is exercised by the British government on her behalf. Regards

The Queen has the power to appoint the Governor-General who is her official representative of her "powers" ni that country. I believe he opens Parliament in the Queen's name. She is the official Head-of-State but s she is not the Head-of-Government in practice she has little power. Included in her title are the words "Head of Commonwealth.

She is only a figurehead. She appoints the Governors-Generals, but even this is not her choice, as the prospective candidate is chosen by the Head of Government of each country, and submitted to her.
