For the most part this is true with the exceptions of family reunions of course.

In the result of a divorce, one side of the family is likely not to show-up for a funeral of the other...even if both sides share a biological child/kin. It's like saying "leave my family and I won't care if you die." 'Families' seem to come and go like pets for some people.
