The most medals won by a man was 15 by Sovjet gymnast Nikolay Andrianov in 1972/1976/1980: 7 gold, 5 silver, 3 bronze. The most medals won by a women woman were 18 by Sovjet gymnast Larissa Latynina in 1956/1960/1964: 9 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze medals. FYI: Carl Lewis won 10 (9 gold, 1 silver), Matt Biondi 11 ( 8 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze).
