  • Hmmm...most Stephen King novels take place in New England I think, but other than that..all bets are off. I vote we go somewhere warm, we don't want you freezing your arse off when you film your infamous towel scene. How about Hawaii..that would really throw them through a loop!
  • Before I go to IMDb to form a semi-educated guess I'll take an ignorant one and say Wisconsin. :p Preliminary research reveals that most of Friday the 13th was filmed in Joisey. Hollow Weenie was filmed in South Pasadena and Hollywood. That explains the lack of dark woods. ;) Meh.
  • How about the Texas Chainsaw Massacre?
  • Minnesota is lake country and they're always filmed near abandoned lake houses. I'd say either Vermont, Michigan, Wisconsin or Minnesota.
  • Hmm...since I don't live in the States it's a bit hard to say, but I certainly know which KIND of places to avoid. -Small towns on the outskirts of any State, especially somewhat backwater ones where they have like one convenience store and no hospital. Make sure to especially avoid Counties or places where the Sheriff has like three major occupations. Old sheds, boarded up schools or suspicious mansions in the middle of nowhere are a big no no. -If it's in a big city, stay away from hospitals, mental asylums or after hour grad parties. -Old and ''not marked on the map'' dusty back roads which seem a convenient shortcut are a death trap, don't use them. -The new ''setup'' of slasher films today, huge areas in the middle of nowhere, usually found in forest preservation areas where airplanes aren't allowed to fly over may hide creepy villages made out of wax and ruled by maniacs. -And of course, this wouldn't be a proper answer if I didn't include the most prominent setting of all; lakes, woods, camp resorts, hotels and other structures now used as vacation getaways conveniently placed in the most out of nowhere areas, like highways or inhabited sections. -Some rare places where killers like to wreak havoc; outer space, abandoned army bases, in your dreams or toy factories. And of course, stay away from creepy basements, tool sheds, slaughter houses and don't talk to strangers, especially creepy ones who repair your car free of charge and give you food and water.
  • Vermont, New Hampshire, Oregon or some place in the sticks like where "Blair Witch Project" was filmed or "Ghost Story".
