I don't know if it ruins "their" expectations but it can certainly ruin the sexual relationship of the couple. Men and women (in general) are so different in their sexual make up. An old saying states that women give sex to get love and men give love to get sex. The sexual compulsion of men to bed as many women as possible and to "pass on their genes" has surely broken countless hearts and countless relationships. This constant sexual/ego thing is something that for sure feeds the porn machine. Porn is not about love and I guess men just want to get down to their basic natures so they watch it. If they bring ideas about pornographic sex into a love relationship it will absolutely have some effect on that relationship. It is a sad thing that some men believe porn is about sex when all the while it is about money. When you discuss porn with men they say it is harmless and means nothing but they are willing to sneak and lie and spend their money on it. The fantasy can certainly change expectations and ruin things for a couple.
