Black people have larger lips, and nostrals, because their anscestors through evolution lived in a hot climated that did not fluxuate as much as climates around te globe. Basically, they are beings equipped for sun and heat. Larger lips offer several advantages in heat. They are a larger "cooling" surface of the mouth, they help cool the air as it passes the moist lips and enters the lungs which keeps the body cooler. The same goes for the nostrals, they are wider allowing more of the "thinner" warm air to enter at a faster speed, cooling the air and again in turn cooling the body. Slavery has not been around long enough to alter these genetics, however, you will notice a higher amount of lean muscle and thicker bones from blacks with slave anscestory as they were "bred" from large female and large male to make large children. Often smaller and weaker slaves were not bred and possibly were rendered useless, given less food and even put to death.
People, do not be afraid of knowledge, knowing reality does not make you a "racist" only not excepting the reality of co-existance and human equality does.
FYI: Black people are "black" because the dark skin, often thicker than white skin, sheilds the body from strong and constant sun thus making it cooler.

Here is an interesting theory that has not been mentioned yet. There is no scientific fact for this but it seems possible to me:
    -----

Human lips vary in the extent to which they are rolled up to expose the pink membranous portion, a phenomenon known as lip eversion.

Lip eversion has been described as particularly a trait of Africans, involving outrolling and exposure of the mucus membrane of the mouth and thickening of the lips making them stand forward from the teeth (1).

The characteristic eversion of the lips in African humans may function to make visible the pink mucus membrane so as to signal health. In the African environment, the most probable form of health and fitness being indicated would be the absence of anemia or jaundice due to diseases, including parasitic diseases such as malaria. In such disease states the exposed mucus membrane would not have its normal pink color. The capillaries running close to the surface of the lips, alluded to above, would therefore generate a clear indication of hematological health.

It has been noted (1) that the lip eversion trait is not found in every part of Africa. If the proposal in this note is correct, it might be expected that the trait would be most common in areas where diseases likely to lead to anemia, such as malaria, have been most prevalent.

Unfortunately, there is not a racially defined lip size. Anyone can have larger lips depending on their genetics and whether or not they have enhanced them cosmetically.

I found this info at http://bioweb.wku.edu/courses/Biol114/Genetics/Human_Genetics/Human_Genetics1.asp A phenotype such as lip size is determined by pairs of genes and follow the rules of dominant and recessive genes. If either parent has the gene then all of the children will have that phenotype. Examples of some phenotype are: Eye shape: Almond-shaped eyes are dominant. Eyelash Length: Long eyelashes are dominant. Lip Thickness: Thick lips are dominant. Skin color is not dominant or recessive. Skin color is polygenic, meaning there are multiple genetic factors creating a full range of light to dark coloration possibilities. While these two phenotypes are not related, In my opinion, Natural Selection may be a factor. If the standard of beauty in a culture is for a recessive gene, then people with thin lips may find a mate more often in that society. Some Africans along the Nile river bear this out. Still the definition of BLACK people is on my agenda for difinition. Are you including all people native to Africa, India and areas in between?

They say people with full lips are generous in spirit and not hard and cold as people with thin lips. It is my experience that this is correct, no matter who they are.

I am a geneticist... This is down to genetics and population genetics. Im quite shocked by the way people liken it to darwins observation of the variation of finches beaks on different locations in the world. However, finches with longer thinner beaks can access grubs in tight cracks and forage in twigs. Finches with smaller beaks are more agile and can catch moving pray whilst in mid air.

In humans, There really is no evolutionary advantage or disadvantage of having big or small lips. There is no selective pressure on having larger lips and therefore is not related to evolution. This is down to wonderful variation within populations and the spread of certain genes and the loss of others through random genetic drift. We shouldn't concern ourselves with trivial matters such as these. The truth is the world governments want us to argue about matters such as these with racial undertones whilst they aim to enforce their hidden agendas and destroy the sense of community we once had. Wake up people!!

I'm 100% white and of German ancestry, but I have lips as big as i've seen on most black people. I don't know where I got them from, it certainly wasn't from either of my parents (my dad actually has very thin lips). I don't know of anyone in my extended family that has them either. I guess it's just one of life's many mysteries. Glad I have them though, I think they're one of my best features...

If a black person asked why white people had thin lips, what would you think and say?

It's all about genetics and natural or manmade selection. There are many black people in Africa without big lips, as well.

I have big lips, by the way, and I am not black. I'm the 'male counterpart' to Angelina Jolie, and the women love my luscious, plump, soft lips for a *good* reason. Don't knock 'em simply because you don't have 'em. Jealousy is a sad thing. ;)

I don't know about the lips, but their noses have to do with evolution. As they come from a place that's not as rich in oxygen (the dry desert), their noses evolved to better facilitate the transfer of oxygen into their bodies. It's also why Africans have eyes that are like many Asians. Thin and slanted in shape, it helps to block out a lot of the sunlight.

all black people don't have big ballon lips and '57 ford truck noses. you dont have to look like halle berry or alicia keys to have small or medium sized lips. the bible says adam and eve were made in the creators image and likeness. they had to be black if they were made from dirt. human cavemen are not made in human from. they grew from apre to man. so big lips and big noses may be the other way around. like they call blacks monkeys. no no no! you know who the monkey is. i dont think there are too many hairy black people.
