Leave it for a while (perhaps 2 days) it should calm down, during these couple of days wash it about twice per day, if it doesnt die down then I would consider consulting a hair colourist for best advice.

cool -- stick with orange... yesterday I saw this guy that I swear could work for AB -- his hair was cut real short... most of the hair was blue, but there were several bright orange stars dyed in sort of randomly arranged on the top and back of his head. Worst comes to worst... dye some blue stars on there.

It'll completely wreck your hair, but laundry detergant is the best to get color out of your hair. If you don't want to go down that route [I don't reccommend it unless it's an emergancy], wait a few days, wash it as normal [over washing will just dry your hair out, dude.], and it might very well change color slightly. If you still hate it, deep condition your hair for a few days [I recommend Aussie 3 Minute Miracle "deeeeeeeep"] and when your hair feels soft and healthy, redye it. However, I wouldn't put medium brown over the orange-red. It won't turn out the color you want it to be. Try maybe a darker red color [Garnier in the Green/Yellow box has an excellent line of reds] and see where that gets you. I hope that helps!

I would panic if this happened to me and probably do something drastic like put a brown on top only to find another unwanted color on my head. I would definitely seek professional help. You will probably pay quite a bit for the "fix", but in the end, you will NOT be orange, or green, or bald, or fried ... IF you go to a reputable salon.

Use a hair color remover by either L'oreal or Redken or Paul Mitchel in other words a professional hair color remover. It happened to me once (not orange however) and I used a prof. hair color remover the next day and recolored it and everything turned out perfectly.

Red is used as a base because the concentration is neutral (6.66% concentrate) many people use this color first anyway because after that you are able to sucsessflly dye your hair any colour, i had blonde hair and used a red first because dye strips your hair of colour, so if you dont use a red first it will turn out green. Using a dark brown will turn out really well
