  • Limes and lemons are different species in the same genus. The lime is Citrus aurantiifolia and the lemon is Citrus limon. Since they are in the same genus, Citrus, they are closely related, but since they are different species, they are really different plants.
  • Both lemons and limes do have seeds. Check out this picture and see for yourself. However, seedless varieties of both limes AND lemons have been bred.   • seedless limes are classified as a parthenocarpic fruit, meaning the flowers don't require pollen to make fruit. Though some fruits are bred to have no seeds, seedless limes are naturally occurring. So squeeze away.
