  • I live in Nova Scotia Canada, and the average family income here is $47100.00 per year.
  • We show that we make enough for our house payment and we have had problems. We almost lost our house in November. We make about 65K a year and only have 1 low car payment and no credit cards and it just seems like its gas and groceries causing all the problems. In our area we are about average.
  • The average income where I live, is about $58,000 and the average home price has dropped from $350,000 last year to around $250,000 this year (so far). According to Wikipedia, the commonly accepted definition of affordable monthly payments including tax and insurance would be no more than 30% of your gross income. For some government assistance programs, it can include up to 40% of the family gross income. The "affordable" house in my neighborhood would have monthly payments not exceeding $1,450.00. (58,000/12 x 30%)
