it depends on why you went to veagas in the 1st place..i enjoy vegas...i don't go expecting to break the bank either.

I've been there lots of times on the way to somewhere else... and plenty of times on business... I don't love it. I don't hate it... It's fun to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there..

It was okay. I wouldn't live there and I wouldn't stay longer than a few days. It gets really hot sometimes, so I hated that part. The glitz and gambling were interesting, but I wouldn't want to get hooked on it.

Took me a while to find what level of game to sit at where I could keep the "free" alky coming without spending a lot. Staying in a $300/night (weekend rate) hotel for $20/night on a weekday was cool, too...tho all I did in the room was sleep. I stayed 4 days and gambool'd every waking moment 'cept the handful of times I ate food. Played as close to neutral games as I could...basically broke even...'cept for the Heineken shits every freaking morning. I'd go again. Prolly will go again soon for a Mon-Wed jaunt..might even stay some place to take in some shows....tho I like the impersonal "sitting at a machine" scene. Bottom line...go to have fun, don't expect to win, budget how much you are willing and can handle to lose...then have at it, preferably on off-days like Sun night through Thurs. Perhaps read up a lil on EV (Expected Value), odds, bankroll management, etc...basic stuff...and you will maximize your entertainment dollar you donate :).

I like it! Not so much for gambling because I don't gamble, but there is quite a bit to do there. Just don't go with not-so-fun people!

Went a few years ago. Stayed a Ceasars Palace, and had a great time. There is so much to see there you could spend a week. I was so impressed with the fountains at Bellagio's, that I stood in front of them for hours. Not to mention the shows that you can see. I also signed up at all the Casinos for a card to have as a keep sakes from our trip.

I almost kind of sort of like it. It's a lot to take in, especially for someone of delicate constitution like me. The reek of tobacco smoke was much for this pregnant lady and not being able to drink was the suck center of the suck universe but part of my duty to my unborn kid. I tried the casinos but the reek of smoke felt bad to me. I played with 20 bucks on machines for 2 days, stretching it out and cashing out as soon as something paid. It was funny but at the point where the 20 became 39 dollars I should have walked away but did not. Silly. The food was not as good as it could have been but I am rather picky and don't eat meat. If I did I would have been in heaven. The fakeyness of it all is kind of fascinating and repulsive and the place just looks like Blade Runner at night which is cool. We saw Cirque du Soleil Mystere which I loved. We stayed at Bellagio which was nice and all but surely a middleclass man's dream of what finery ought to be. All sort of 2-dimensional fake luxe. Nice patisserie there and the pool scene was ideal. The prices are just stupid high though. I give the town 6 out of 10 for effort and 0 out 10 for sheer environmental waste. Imagine trucking yourself and belongings out to a stinking desert where water, electricity and all the food also have to be brought in at great expense and you begin to see what modern Rome it is. Not a single solar panel anywhere and all that heat and light. Silly but fun. Give it a try if you are bored and need to waste some dough.

Vegas is the 11th most boring place on Earth, unless you like throwing money at the Mafia... then it sizzles with excitement.

Never been, but would love to visit!

If you are fascinated by shiny objects you will like it. If you are not easily amused by cheap glitz, you probably won't like it. I've been many times and its very easy to get tired of it. I would characterize it to having nothing but dessert for every meal.

Second marriage, early 80's, loved it. :)

Many times over the last 33 yrs, I like it, wouldn't want to live there though. To many people, to expensive but a great place to get away at least once a yr. Plenty to see, its a ever changing place, some thing for ever one, kind of like a big Disney land in some ways only adult style. Boring during the day, beautiful a night. I think one of my favorite places is old down town Vegas, with the light show overhead, bands on the street, no cars, casinos, drinks and food. Everbody should go at least once in their life time just to say they have been there!

I go whenever Hubby has a convention there. I like to visit the exotic fabric shops around town, as I used to be a costume designer. I also like the rock shop, which has all kinds of unusual, hard to find rocks. There are several art museums with avant-garde exhibits, and the Star Trek experience. I usually see at least one big show, if Hubby wins enough the Black-Jack tables. I really enjoyed The Blue Man Group the last time I was there. As Slim 746 says, I do love shiny lights so I enjoy walking around at night. We were there on the Fourth of July one year and saw fireworks from every side, on our 18th floor room in the Luxor Tower.

I am from northern nevada near reno and i have been to vegas several times. I really do not enjoy and the only nice part is right on the strip. once you get off of it, it gets pretty scummy. sumerlin just outside of vegas is nice, if you wanna stay in a classy area i suggest the suncoast in sumerlin. its gorgeous and away from all the crazy drunks and strippers. dont get me wrong though, the strip can be fun and there are lots of entertaining people to watch and lots of shopping opportunities. and i hate vegas because anyone who thinks of nevada thinks of vegas and the what happens in vegas stays in vegas. vegas is NOT the only place in nevada. if you would like to go somewhere nice come to Lake Tahoe, NV and the Carson Valley and surrounding areas. There are gorgeous mountains like the lovely Job's Peak and the Heavenly ski resort is located here.
