They are coming up with new ones all the time. I think I remember a company that makes US state-specific collections with pasta pieces in the shapes of the state and things associated with the state. If I gave you a number today, it would probably be wrong before next week.

Hundreds and hundreds. In Italy almost every community has it's favorite unique shapes plus the ones we all know.
