  • You can learn the rules from reading books, but learning to play... takes a while, as a player you only have to learn the rules how to play your character. There are resources for the Player's handbook online, if you find that you are good to go... Each Dungeon master has different rules they play with, so you'll have to conform to that. If you are looking to be a Dungeon master (i.e. run the game) then you'll have to read lots of the books, (most of which you can find online, do search for dungeon master hand books) A few resources i used were, www.thepiratebay.org and or you can download the torrent at http://www.mininova.org/tor/1012234 for a bunch of 3.5ed books (un tested) If you dont know how to download torrents, you'll have to search for those on your own.
  • Another useful resource is the SRD (System Resource Document) which can be found at http://www.d20srd.org/ This is only for 3.5 as far as I know.
