I'm looking to buy a newer model Saab. As far as repairs and maintainance, anyone know the differences/difficulties with this vehicle as opposed to fixing an American model?

Hi, the newer model SAABs are based on a European car the Opel Vectra. This could make spares and repairs a little tricky, however I believe that SAAB share parts with some of the smaller cadillacs such as the BLS.Hope this helps :o)

MY parents bought a new Saab about 5 years ago and they haven't had any trouble with it, no repairs needed at all. As to maintenance, my dad's a mechanic who doesn't want to work on any of his cars in his retirement and he hasn't had any issues with the car at all to worry about taking it to a shop, though he is based in Los Angeles where it's easy to get parts and such. They've been really happy with their car. It's the Saab 9-3 Convertible
