Why would he not be? He has HIV which apparently has not (yet) progressed to AIDS--if that is what you are referring to. They have some pretty powerful antiviral medications on the market now...I understand that they can make you very ill--but not kill you:)
It does go to show. that people with HIV can live a long life.
We should be congratulating the researchers for all there hard work;)
If you have the money to buy the medicines, and keep up with the latest treatments, HIV is not a death sentence. He has access to things that most sufferers do not- that is why he is alive.
I believe it was a big microwave, and a whole lot of money to pay for it, I could be wrong...
He bought the cure
Like someone else wrote, he's got the money to spend for the best doctors, treatments, and medications. That's the key. If you can dole out $20,000 a month, you will not die of AIDS. They should change his nickname from Magic Johnson to Lucky Johnson. He can sleep with 2,000 women and get AIDS and live and do commercials for 20 years, and yet some guy who got a blood transfusion because he got in a bad car accident and gets AIDS and can't afford Johnson-like treatment dies in five years. Not fair, but that's America. Good healthcare is only made for the rich, not the middle-class or poor.
$$$...? Just a thought.
Because he has a Magic johnson!
By magic of course!
he has money, so he probably has a cure, he is still married. and still doing his business with her. so idk
his dolla bills aka stacks on deck aka what i make it rain with
Because he never get seriously ill.
Doctor says nobody died of AIDS.
AIDS patient usually dies of pneumonia, or some other fatal infection.
AIDS patient have very weak immunity system, a serious infection could easily kill them. Therefore it was that other infection that kill them, not AIDS.
So the logical solution to stay alive, is not to get infected by any bugs.

I thought that HIV normally develops into AIDS after 10-15 years. I definitely do NOT wish him any harm, but I and many people wonder if he is privy to medicine that the ordinary person is not (given) and I question the ethics in not having that medicine available to the general public.

Could comment, Sinister Cadre. I have wondered myself. I think most HIV positives get whatever is available, but Magic is certainly a unique case. But, maybe not. Some people may have a special, "innate" type of natural immunity. Some studies have indicated this.

I realize in retrospect that this question was not worded properly. I cannot edit it, but I was referring to the medicine he uses. I feel it should be available to people at a more affordable price.

Tom I know this is true. I remember a story in particular about a boy who was able to recover from HIV in the 90s. Very good point.

We think it is a very old virus that may have allowed immunities to develop in certain groups, particularly some African peoples. Before somebody starts trolling here, this is from research and we are very interested in what that immunity is and does.

I have friends who are HIV +ve and AIDS -ve after 20 years...I don't know that they get special drugs but I do know that they take damn good care of themselves in everyway they can. Maybe that is also and underlying factor...but there is so much about this virus that we simply do not know...

So true, Da Ben Dan. It is a delicate little bug and cannot survive outside a host for more than a few seconds. So, people's fear of those who are HIV positive is unwarrented. Medical workers must take extra precautions, of course, because they may work directly with blood tests. And any sexual contact is potentially dangerous. Precaution is paramount.
