  • A lot more people will be taking the bus or train to work.
  • We're paying that now in Canada.$1.27 a liter.
  • I heard that McCain wants to put a cap on the prices over the summer. I think that it is a great idea. But honestly, it has been that high in some places, and most people haven't changed their habits.
  • you will stop laughing at the kia's & yugo's
  • I suspect there will be much more interest in electric or hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. The problem with today's electric vehicles is that it pollutes just as much as a gas-powered car. The only difference is that the pollution is produced by the power plant that generates the electricity (most are fueled by coal) rather than the car itself.
  • There will be a switch to 100% electric vehicles ... along with a huge amount of new construction for power plants that use many curved mirrors to focus sunlight to heat oil to 400°C, then use the oil to boil water to turn steam turbines to make electricity ... and geothermal heat to boil water to turn steam turbines. Places like Spain and China have already passed the U.S. with solar heat power generating technology and they have plants already under construction ... Russia, Sweden, Norway, & Canada have much less sunlight and are advancing with geothermal technology ...
  • Gas and Oil companies will laugh in our faces because they are investing in powering electric cars as well now..
  • Admiral: this isn't the story that I was mentioning but I couldn't find that specific one. This story is similar, though, in that it's the owner vs. oil company: http://tinyurl.com/4eh92z
  • average people will start to change their driving habits at $5 per gallon. It will cost 1/3 more than it does now to fill up your tank. That will have an effect on the econmy as well. Pushing up the cost of food in more than just transportation cost. I will cause the price of just about everything to go up IF it stays their for an extended period of time. It will actually allow more oil to be produced due to the higher price will allow for more oil to be taken from places where it does not make since to drill or separate oil from sand currently. As the price goes up people will see that there has to be another option put in place and that is not Ethonal... It will actually cost more to produce fuel at that point from corn than the return is worth in energy. As the price of gas goes up the amount of ethonal produced will increase also driving up food prices because farmers will turn their crops over to corn to get more money per acre driving up soy beans as well as everything from cotton to potatos... You do realize that ethonal can not be piped through pipelines due to the corrosive nature of the product. It has to be trucked using more of it after the amount of energy use to make it already is equal to the energy out put we recieve from it. What I am saying is the world will change slightly... It will not be like MADE MAX but it will be a little different or our habbits will change a little. There are a lot of little secrets that will come out and we will realize that looking to Washington is not the answer... there are not scientist there... just a lot of pople that want more power and lawyers and not to forget the lobbiest.
  • It's so expensive you spelled it with 2 S's. Damn! I guess we're all gonna have to get bicycles.
  • Truthfully, we will just complain more. Big oil companies will break profit records. Their executives will receive massive bonuses. They will continue to receive billions of dollars in federal grants to explore new areas where oil might be. Anyone who wants to invent non-gas vehicles willbe crushed by the oil companies.
  • (Plugging my ears with my fingers and saying....) LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA!
  • We are at and above $4.27 a gallon. Other than people losing their jobs I see little change. 65 MPH freeway traffic is still at nearly 80. I live where there is no public transportation. Walking or using a bike you would be competing with that 80 MPH freeway traffic for 27 miles and 14 bridges. My bet would be you would suffer being a fatality within 10 trips.
  • Already up to like $4.30 here......Nothing seems to be happening. People are complaining about gas prices more. That's about it.
  • There'll be a lot more hybrids or electric vehicles, and no one will just go for drives "for the heck of it" anymore.
  • $4 a gallon is already in my rear view mirror. We are at $4.45 a gallon. I should be able to let you know the $5 answer about Wednesday, Friday at the latest. But I'm seeing an increase in adults in their 40's and up, increasingly walking, biking and even using skate boards. And this in a mountainous rural community not conducive to such as there are no sidewalks nor even pavement at the edge of traffic lanes. I can say that such cheap foods as Ramen Noodles are disappearing from groceries. Even dog and cat food sales are up. And it's not pets eating it.
  • people sell their souls to Satan only to pay him for a full tank!
  • We're already over $4.00/gallon here. We make an effort to conserve fuel by combining errands, etc. I think that people will learn to adapt to the price of gas, and find creative ways to budget for it.
  • What will happen is there will be a lot more drive-offs and violent crime.
  • The worlds money will destroy this precious Planet will call Mother Earth the only known planet with a civilization.
  • It's December now and it's only $1.34 where I live. Who knows what will happen when/if it goes back up again. That's why we are saving a bit extra each month to cover the extra costs.
  • Eventually, people who bought those huge SUVs could then go live in them.
  • I'll just teleport...
  • I'm sure there will be a time when driving a car will be a luxury that is only available to the rich / upper class of society. We may even remember and talk about the "good old days" when EVERYONE had a car (today). However, the non rich are the MAJORITY of the population, and car manufacturing companies obtain most of their wealth from these people. Many of these companies will change their products (some may even choose to go into a different industry entirely). For example, i doubt SKODA'S will still be produced when this time comes as the rich wudnt want to buy it and they'll be the only consumers out there.
  • The price of hay, straw, grass and oats goes up proportionately!
  • YOU'LL HAVE LESS MONEY AND LESS GAS.
  • We are paying £4.00 ( $6.12 ) per gallon for petrol (gas) now in the UK, and its just come down due to the drop in oil prices. Worked out at $1.36 = £1
  • AS I SAID LESS THAN 30 MINUTES AGO, YOU'LL HAVE LESS MONEY AND LESS FUEL. FOR THE 2ND. TIME.
  • They will build one wheeled cars called the unicar! It will be a unicycle with a cab overhead and one occupant, and it will be propelled by a windshield wiper motor! Parking will be non existent because you fold up the cab and take the wheel with you inside!
  • I'm going ride my bike.
  • Lucky you - we're already paying $6 a gallon here in the UK.
  • As usual not too much. The folks in D.C. will make speeches about the topic. The need for more fuel efficent autos and so on.The oil companies will make sure nobody can buil such a car, but, them of course. There is more, but, thats the general idea.
  • That has already happened. People will continue driving, too lazy to ride a bike.
  • we will buy it like we did when it was 4dollars not too long ago
  • THEN EXXON PROFITS WILL BE ABOUT $5 BILLION A MONTH, SINCE OPEC'S BEEN GOING DOWN. IF EVERYONE STOPPED USEING EXXON, STANDARD, MOBILE, HUMBLE= ALL STATIONS OWNED BY EXXON-MOBILE, THEN THAT WOULD START A GAS WAR IN AMERICA. BUT EVERYONE MUST STOP USEING THOSE GAS COMPANIES OWNED BY EXXON-MOBILE IN ORDER TO DROP THE PRICES.
  • It has already been $4.20/gallon here. Hope we don't see that again!
  • 5-21-2017 Gas prices have already hit those levels in many places. So what happened? All I see is that people are paid twenty five bux an hour now instead of three.
