  • Yes, what you described is what my friend experiences. He can eat ice cream and other dairy products, but when it comes to milk he gets sick from it. He says he's lactose intolerant but only a little.
  • yes definitely. I'm lactose intolerant but only mildly like you. I think you might need to look at the symptoms of lactose intolerance. I thought I was only affected by milk because it makes me feel sick. but it turns out that chocolate and cheese make me gassy and bloated (but I eat them anyway!) watch how you feel with other dairy foods because nausea is not the not the only symptom of lactose intolerance.
  • Milk makes me ill. I can tolerate most other dairy products in moderation though. A little is fine, too much, not so good.
  • The person might just react to part of the milk and not to everything. It might not be the lactose, for instance. It also may depend on the type of milk like goat, cow, sheep. Or it may not bother himif it's been processed in some way like made into cheese or yogurt. My SIL can't do dairy at all we say but she is okay with Romano cheese (Sheeps' milk cheese) and butter doesn't bother her.
  • yes, milk has loads more lactose than, for example, hard cheeses like cheddar or mozzerella, so a little cheese may be ok but a glass of milk can be far too much - if you read the dietary info on the cheese/milk packaging you can see the sugar amounts (which in dairy are lactose) this info can help you keep lactose intake down to a minimum :)
