Well Jed, you posted this in boating safety. Since I boat and it is sort of my neighbourhood, I reckon I qualify to answer. Safe. The local fish don't belong to gangs and are usually in "School", the traffic is relatively slow. Not many acts of piracy seem to be happening and the arson rate, well..I don't recall seeing any grass fires out on the water....ever.

Very safe. We live out in the country and there are only 4 other homes here. Two have family in them. the other two are vacation homes. Traffic is light, mainly 2 school buses that go by twice a day. We're surrounded by state woods but we only worry a little during opening day of deer season.
