  • It depends on how dedicated you are and if you know what to do with all the information you were taking in. Most books need some explaining by someone who already has the facts. As a beginner, you don't have all the facts. And depending on the course, there are many things books don't teach, that are hand's on.
  • Not really. There is more to a college class than reading the textbooks. There are assignments also. There is another important part that many overlook and that is the give and take of the college classroom discussion especially in the upper level courses.
  • I think that most of the time it's helpful to hear and see the information (see any info about Neuro-linguistic programming). The Professor usually uses different words to explain, which helps people to learn. A lot of times it depends on the subject and how you learn and process information. You can be tested out of a class if you feel confident that you know the subject well enough from reading the books. In most cases classroom learning is better than self-taught, however, Mr. Lincoln might disagree.
