  • M-16 the SA-80 has had many problems. Most SOF soldiers in the Brit Army choose to use the M-4/M-16 over the SA-80, that says a lot.
  • Well the answer to this question is hang up question. There are so many varients of the SA80 and for this reason I will say the M16 design are still in use some 45 years later. The SA80 was discontinued by the Brits and moved towards the SA85 shooting the Nato round. So Hands down M-16 all the way.
  • The SA80A2 is a far superiour assault rifle then the M16A2 and is shorter, more reliable, has a brilliant SUSAT scope and is more accurate then the M16A2. The sa80A2 assualt rifle is better for urban combat as well as long range combat because it is compact beacuse of its bullpup design and this means it can be fitted with a longer barrel which extends the effective range of the rifle. The SA80 could even be said to be the most reliable assault rifle in the world at the moment even more then the AK47 because in some conditions it is superiour in reliablity then the ak47 and m16. SA80's are easily a better assault rifle then the m16a2 definatly, this is not a opinion it is a fact anyone who argues probly knows nothing about guns but you prefer a m16a2.
  • Depends on your troop and the environment in which they are in conflict. I will choose the M16 as a better weapon. The SA80 is bitch to clean properly. It lacks endurance and the tendency to malfunction in extreme conditions is much higher. The SA-80 is small, light-weight and compact. The bullpup (magazine to the rear of the trigger) design supposedly gives it greater control in auto fire mode. The M16 is the lightest with good accuracy and very easy to clean it also has a forward assist lever to help if you get a stoppage. It is extremely accurate out to 500 yards.
  • M16, SA80 has had many problems
  • conceptually, the SA80 has benefits. functionally however, the M16 wins in the field.
  • Well the SA80 is known for malfunctions, and is hard to clean, however it is also known that when it was brought in by the British army as their service rifle, it was so accturate that they had to totally re-design the rifle shooting tasks because on the old targets the sa80 couldnt miss. now the M16 has none of these problems, however it has been know to have a weaker round that isnt dropping the enemy. its a little longer, thus less manouverable ect, the bullpit design on teh SA80 wins there too, ans with the newer SA80A2 there is little doubt that the SmallArms80 is a better rifle overall.
