They get paid $1,000 per episode they personally perform once in the top 24. Once they perform on television performance laws take effect and they have to be paid mimimum wage or higher. However 19 entertainment pays them more than accepted by law. 19 entertainment gets more than their money's worth back by holding the right to place them in any commericals without pay. So while they get paid for performance, they lose out on others. If they go on tour they recieve a flat rate per stop, which is still unknown.
