Has the media and the politicans contributed to a "Recession Scare" while the experts still don't see all the the signs? Do you think this is because this is an election year and the media wants to see the "other party" gain the Presidency?

Certainly I think the Democrats don't mind making the most of the economic straits the US finds itself in, but I hardly think it's a scare. Mortgage companies handled the housing market so badly over the last several years that the federal government has to bail them out and foreclosure is up 60%. A new report released this week indicates profits from all major retailers except those who deeply discount (WalMart and Costco) are down. Four airlines have filed for bankruptcy. Gas prices are higher than ever before. We may or may not actually be in a recession, but all indicators suggest we're headed for one.
