  • You have not listed any conditions... so I will state the obvious: Take off everything that you don't need: carpet, seats, side windows, speakers, radio... reducing the weight of the vehicle improves the hp/pound ratio and will increase acceleration. This costs nothing. Reducing the tire diameter gives a lower effective gear ratio which should improve acceleration at pretty low cost, but at the expense of top speed and fuel economy.
  • Dollar for dollar the best mods you can make are a free flow intake system (hi-flow filter, larger throttle body, etc.) to replace the stock airbox, coupled with a performance exhaust system (header, hi-flow muffler, larger pipe). You should always try to do these two together. Remember, an engine is basically a pump. The less restrictive the intake and exhaust systems are, the lower the amount of energy it uses just moving air/fuel mixture, resulting in more "useable" power.
  • my 1993 civic hatchback runs good for the firs 5 or ten minutes but once it gets warm then the rpms real & shuts off, but if i pull any of the vacuum lines it keeps runnig just fine i did replace the map sensor, distriburator & cap it did not help.
