  • It's a program used to download music. After downloading it, you simply type in the name of the song you want and/or the artist's name and Limewire will find it for you. It's the best I've used so far.
  • it's a file shareing program. In layman's terms - a file is dissected into many parts and as you download a file from limewire - each of these parts is coming from a different computer - hence the phrase 'file sharing'. When you have downloaded all of the pieces to the file, the program 'put's the file back together' again.
  • from what ive heard, its safe and legal. I just got it today, im haveing a few issues with the songs i want to download, but other than that its all good.
  • Limewire is a file-sharing program that utilizes the Gnutella network. Despite what others may tell you, there is nothing inherently illegal or dangerous about P2P file-sharing, at least no moreso than surfing the 'Net. Basically, it works by creating a distributed network of online PC. When you search for a file, you may get X number of PCs that say,"Hey, I have that!" and then put you in their queue. If there are many people wanting that file from a particular source, you may be quite far back in the line, but once you get to the head of the line (nearly instantly if the other PC has nobody waiting and sufficient bandwidth) you start downloading the file from that PC. You CAN download portions of a particular file from multiple sourced simultaneously, and you can save partial downloads between sessions. I make use of that a LOT due to my slow dial-up connection. IMAO, Limewire isn't great. I used to love it but then I tried a multi-network client and found that I was getting most of my hits off of the eMule/ed2k network. Since then, I switched to eMule+.
  • Limewire works really well as far as P2P media goes.. only problem is you gotta wonder whether or not you would rather have music or a computer. I got a really bad virus from Limewire and I have Norton 360 antivirus. So I just wouldn't recomment it. 4 outta 5 files that you download and think that they are gonna B your song, are viruses. There used to be safe mp3 sites out there 4 free, but I am on a crusade right now tryin to find one. Ill let u know if I get 1 that works.
