Help answer this question below.

After reading a few Questions, I see that the people answering gave the Questioner points but they got NO points back. What would it take to remind you to give your Answerers the points they deserve (If you almost ALWAYS give points, please don't answer.)

Nothing.

In time they shall learn that it is proper bagiquette to points the answerer.

There are some people who do not believe in points. Some of them comment but do not points, some of them do nothing.

If I find one who does nothing routinely I do not bother myself answering their questions.

If I find an asker who does not points but leaves excellent comments along with asking questions that I enjoy I seek out their questions. I love a good comment more than I do points.

I almost always give points for questions I answer and answers to my questions. Occasionally I miss an answer completely because my answer/comment light is a bit fubared right now and I catch them later. I also do not points answers that take no thought or just give them one or two points.

The only time I points down an answer is if they are rude to me. I do not points down answers that disagree with me just because they disagree with me.

Oh, for the record, a few times I KNOW that I points something and, if I go back later, it shows that I have not points them. It is some kind of AB glitch.

I know I didn't have to answer this because I always try to give points to all answers I receive. But it's not against the rules, is it? ;)

Well, I notice that there are some users here who keep on posting questions, and they don't give points and don't post comments.

I think if they are stingy when it comes to giving points, then fine. But I think they should at least recognize the answers by posting comments. It seems to me that such questioners are only after the points and not the answers.

What can we do? Nothing. We can't force the questioner to give us points.

But I still answer the questions posted by such users because I love answering questions, and because I know some appreciative souls will uprate them :)

- No, not against the rules. I was trying to avoid the response of "I always give points", as that wasn't the question. The question was "What would it take to remind Questioners to give points to the people who answer their questions (or something like that?"). I apologize for wording the question the way I did. If I see I have an answer (all one that I have so far) I'll rate it if it is a valid attempt at answerng my question or if it's funny

  I just thought of a reminder myself - On the botton of each answer a person gives, if they care about getting points, they could simply add the words "I care". No guarantee that would get them points but it might serve as a reminder, and its not blatant or begging.

To be honest, when I first started on AB, I was kind of like that. I didn't give points much unless the answers I received were significant.

This doesn't really answer your question Irahyn, it's more of a thank you, because after I became your AB friend I noticed how you always uprated me for trying and giving an effort in answering even if my answers weren't really good...I was very touched by your kindness, and now I almost always give points to my answerers.

I know you say for people that always do, not to answer, but this caught my attention.
I don't mind not being given points for an answer.
But I do mind if I don't get some sort of indication that my answer was even read. Just a simple thanks in a comment would suffice.
I can understand for those questions that have like, 200 answers and such, because that's a lot of work!
But I always give some sort of feedback to my answerers, except when I'm not here. :)

- Of course, I'm talking about those Questioners who give NO points at all to ANYONE who took the time to answer. If one takes the time to ASK the question, they should take time to either reply or point them, even if its just a simple 1 point.

This site isn't just about points...Just because you answer a question doesn't mean you deserve points anyways.

- Do you give points? A person should get at least one point to show the question was read, even if the answer wasn't liked (just my opinion). Really, though, I'm referring to those who have like 12 answers, more or less, and not one of them have been given a point by the person who asked the question.

Why not just give points automatically? I think mostly it gets to be a matter of habit when people don't.

You, as questioner or answerer, should only give points if you think the answer or question deserved points. This is not a pre-school birthday party where every body gets a present even the attendees, otherwise ya might damage sumbudies self esteem. This is the real world, no wait this a virtual E-world. You won't down rate me for my error will ya? I mean I know my answer was wrong but I really want the points cause it means that I will... uh.. I can... that is , with the points I get here I can g... OK If you give me some points I will give you some, even if your next answer or question is way stoopid. But then you gotta give me some on my next one. OK?

- Sweet T, I am surprised to read what you posted here. Of course Baggers care about points, in one way or another. If Staff didn't mean them to be "awarded", they wouldn't have "installed" them. It seems that the folks who have the points are the first to say "they don't matter". They DO matter, if nothing more than to give Beginners incentive, to say "Thank you", to say "I read your question", and as a courtesy to your fellow Baggers. I'm mostly concerned for those who ask a question, half-a-dozen or more Baggers answer, and the Questioner doesn't acknowledge any of them in any way. I see it way too often. In my opinion, anyone who took the time to answer "deserves" some kind of recognition, even if it is just 1 point to let them know that they are appreciatee for taking the time to answer. And, thank YOU, for your response, too. *SMILES*

I don't know. I ALWAYS give points of varying amounts to those that answer my questions. If I haven't, it's because I did not get a notice that someone answered.

Ok...why am I able to give out 4 points to an answer, 3 points to a question, take 3 points away from a question and 2 points away from the answer? Shouldn't the "take away 2 points" raise to a 3 before my 3 points to an answer raise to a 4?
