  • I don't downrate anything here on AB.
  • I think so. I update tons more than I downrate. If something is completely wrong, or offensive, I may DR slightly, but not usually fully. +2
  • i do it all on intuition. i dont know if that is fair or not, but that the way i work.
  • With me its full points or no points at all. Every once in awhile I downrate if someone is blatantly racist.
  • I guess I am fair enough since I do not downrate
  • I think I am. I rarely downrate unless the person is being argumentative or abusive.
  • Not even a little bit.
  • I don't DR unless someones starts some shit about my opinion. Like someone who thinks I am an asshole for wanting bomb Iraq. My sons are fighting a losing battle & I don't want the soldiers coming to my door telling me that they were killed. I RARELY DR. I will argue my opinion. I am entitled to it.
  • I have never downrated anyone and everyone gets my maximum..there is no way I could be any fairer than that! :)
  • my time's too precious to waste it doing that stuff.
  • 1 out of maybe every 10000000 dr admits to it. I only downrate questions that are non sense but rarely do so.
  • Honestly, yes. I use the - button very sparingly.
  • absolutely..................................................................................................not......................................................
  • Yes, I have only given one negative rating, so I guess I am more likely to + someone than - them, even though that doesn't represent the actual quality of answers. T I purposely skip over anything I find offensive, with one exception. I saw one of those questiosn that is like " don't you think suchandsuchuser is a _____", where the _ is a slang insult. That is the only one to ever get a DR from me!
  • Yes, I'm always fair! Jack
  • I try to be. The few times I downrate are when someone answers legitimate questions with something nonsensical, irrelevant, or incendiary. For example, "Why is the sky blue?" answered with "Cuz you're too stupid to see any other color" would be a perfect place for my downrate. Now, if they amend their answer after the downrate to something that makes sense ("oh, I was just kidding, it's because of the air diffusing short wavelength light more than long wavelength light"), I'll switch to a positive scoring. As far as how *much* I downrate, I really don't give much thought--I just click the minus button (for me it's -3 per answer now). I'll usually disclose that I was the one downrating, just out of courtesy and to allow the person a chance to redeem themself... so I consider that the "fair" aspect of my rating style.
  • I believe that I am but how am I to know if my perception is correct? I only downrate for rudeness and inciting. Inciting does not include asking or answering in a controversial manner. To me, inciting is trolling or attempting to be offensive. I do not downrate because someone has a different opinion than myself.
  • I used to downrate every answer that did not help the asker, then I discovered that users actually wanted those kind of answers, the "funnier" the better, so I stopped downrating any but the worst violations.
  • Yes. I rarely downrate and when I do it is blatantly obvious why (unnecessary attacks of an abusive nature or intentionally harmful information). You can tell exactly how 'fair' a person is from the profile % positive.
  • I believe so ...I rarely downrate...I usually just ignore ...
