  • I would be welcoming, yet leery. On the whole, though, I think the human race would be hostile out of sheer fear of the unknown.
  • They probably didn't go the distance to come here looking for a fight. To be able to come here, their superior technology must be proof enough that they're intelligent. Our primitive technology will amuse them and treat us like pets. Much the same way when humans discover an island dominated by dogs. Humans would try to tame the dogs and treat them like pets, but if the dogs fought back, RESISTANCE IS FUTILE. The dark side: What if humans discover an island populated by cows, much the same way when aliens discover a planet populated by humans, and humans are in their diet list. For the aliens, it's FEAST time, not PEACE time.
  • It is official US government policy that a blanket shut down of all electronic communication will be instigated in the event of contact by aliens. Since we don't know their intentions, they figure that's the best response. I'm sure any race able to make it here, will soon be able to make its intentions known despite some black out.
