Fair? Hm. I just do not know. I personally would 'even' out the situation and allow my child to have a (singular, one, just one) friend spend the night. If that went smoothly then I would allow it to happen again. Until such time my trust is betrayed or until the child moves out - which ever happens first. Betrayal of my trust does not stop at the spending te night situation, it would also include other behaviors and day to day things. Preventing or stopping a night over might be a useful way to punish and teach my child something. If my child has acted out of turn or has done something wrong that I could clearly connect cause and effect with. "You did _________ (fill in the blank) As punishment you are not allowed anyone over to spend the night." So it all boils down to what else it taking place, what has taken place.
