  • I used to love filling out checks, because I'm just weird like that. Now I just use a debit card, it's so much faster!
  • I think I write 2 checks or so a month these days. I find my debit and credit cards a lot more convenient and do all my bill paying online.
  • Neither, credit card or cash...usually cash. I can't stand it when I'm in line at the supermarket with just a few things for dinner and the woman in front of me whips out her checkbook. First it takes her forever to find it in her purse. Then she's got to find her wallet so she can show identification. Then she has to write the check, which normally needs to get approval by a manager. Then she balances the amount in her ledger. Now she has to go back into her purse to get her wallet so she can put her ID away. Finally, the store clerk gives her the receipt....but she has to go back into her purse to find her checkbook again so she can put the receipt in her checkbook. Finally, she puts the checkbook back into her purse, zips up the purse after making sure everything is properly arranged inside(even though everything will get all jumbled again anyway)and she is off. I'm left standing there with warm milk and melted ice cream:(
  • I use my credit card for everything. I hate it when somebody is ahead of me in a checkout line and they take forever to write out a check. I prefer the plastic because I just write one check to my credit card bank once a month.
  • debit/credit cards usually (get 1% cashback on credit) cheques only for my bus-pass
  • Debit card - nothing pisses me off more than watching someone wait until the last mintue to pull out the checkbook and write a check and then fish for ID!
  • I use my debit card for everything, I don't even carry checks or money. Debit cards are so common place that I get pretty aggravated when a person pays by check. Especially the ones that wait to fill it out until the order is checked out. They know where they are, they should know the date, and of course they know how to sign their name. Why do they wait until the order is done, are they going to change their mind and leave the food at the grocery store?
  • Neither. Where I live people use mostly cash. If I had to choose though, I would prefer credit cards to checks.
  • thanks
  • Debit card. I hate writing checks except to pay bills that I can't pay online. I can't carry cash because I just stuff it in my pocket and end up losing it somewhere. The cards are easier to keep track of.
  • cash and debit
  • Debit card, its so much quicker. I just have to make sure to keep the receipts and balance my check book often.
  • debit cards, checks are for old people who cant remember there pin
  • debt card
  • Both yo...
  • geeesh! I want all you "anti-check writers" to know, there are some considerate ones...I ONLY write checks, however, before I even get in line...I have filled out the entire check except for the amount...it takes about the same time as swiping, entering PIN & pressing enter for me to write my check. Why do I use checks...the very act of writing is more visceral to me that I am spending money...and do I want to?
  • Most UK shops don't take cheques any more, so debit cards have become the norm. I still use one or two cheques a month for my daughter's school, but even that annoys me as they take ages to pay them in and always just BEFORE I get paid. At least with a debit card, you know it's gone through and how much money you have left...
  • i never write checks. i pay all my credit cards and utility bills online out of my checking account. I use my debit card mostly. I pay cash if I have it.
  • Debit Card all the way. But it's lost.
