  • Only if they remain unused and a mere deterrence.
  • The problem is that the mere existence provides possible access..some mentally deranged person gaining access could potentially annhilate the world..especially if this mentally deranged person is in a position of power. I think it best to eliminate them altogether, everywhere. The "good guys" and "bad guys" keeping changing..you can't trust anyone forever! :(
  • Very good argument here. Nuclear weapons kill so many people when used that the world would undoubtedly be a better place if they never existed! Or would it? Without nukes it is quite possible the US could have gone to war with Russia in the 70's (or vice versa ofc) and if that happened and was on a scale of WW2 then we could have been looking at 100's of millions dead and that is still assuming the war did not spread! This is a philosophical conversation with no real answer! We have nukes now and the fact that both sides of the major world powers have them defiantly stops one side from using them! In hindsight, I would have to say yes. It is POSSIBLE (note, not definite) that the existence of nukes saves more lives than it takes.
