I don't think any python species are indigenous to Florida or the US. They have been showing up all over the southern US because people have let them loose and they have been successful predators.

Nope, they are indigenous to Australia. I do not know if any Boide species that are indigenous to Florida. It could have been someone's pet, however, that escaped. I cannot think of any snake that looks like a black headed python offhand other than a black headed python.
