It is important to have it treated because it can eventually cause pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) in women and inflamed testes or prostate in men.

You did not mention the most commen a yeast infection. This can be spread to a man also. You can get it in your mouth too. I'm not sure if it falls under a vaginal bacteria infection but i read in a mag. that women with cervical cancer can give it to their partner in their mouth if they have any sore in their mouth.
