There is a person at work like that, we get on ok, but I would not call them a friend. Friends don't have to out do each other :-)

Is there anything at all you can think of that you can do and she can't and has no hope whatsoever of going anywhere near it? If so, maximise on it, sit back & enjoy. You could also take the approach that nothing phases you so let it all go right over your head. Last but not least - drop her from your life - who needs 'friends' like this?

A few suggestion of things you might say to your friend next time you feel the moment is right. 1. "You're all foam, no beer!" 2. "I can see your point, but I still think you're full of it?" 3. "I like you. You remind me of when I was young and stupid!" or if you're really fed up you might say: 4. "If I throw a stick, will you leave?"

Yes, and it does get old!

My neighbor is like this, and she is the one who bugs me all the time. I never ask her to come over or call, she just does!! And she always throws in my face how smart her kids are. My kids struggle in school, but no matter how smart her kids are, it will not change the love I have for my own. Why do people do that I do not do it to her!!!! I do try to exclude her from my life she just wont go away.

I'm really just trying to understand WHY people do this?! It drives me crazy! I have a friend that does it CONSTANTLY...but it's more upsetting because it makes me want to minimize the time we do spend together! :0( Help!

WHOA .. yes I have such colleagues. And I just try to keep myself busy with anything except pay attention to them. That way they just finish what they have to say and leave me alone. And I like Albadi's comebacks..esp no4. ;p
