Yes. and to be more specific the Percy Jackson books He is the son of a greek god very funny lots of action and very similar to the harry potter books ... i LOVE THEM!

Some of the "roots" to the Potter series can be found in "The Once and Future King". Marion Zimmer Bradley wrote "The Mists of Avalon" and that has magic, mysticism and all that. It does not revolve around teens though, not in a contemporary way.
